Protect Your Systems and Data from Ransomware Attacks
8 April 2025
Ransomware is now a widespread, sophisticated, and systemic threat with the potential to severely disrupt essential services, compromise national security, and cripple the operations of organisations.
Modern ransomware groups employ advanced tactics, including double and triple extortion, living-off-the-land techniques, and the exploitation of zero-day or unpatched vulnerabilities. Some campaigns also leverage social engineering, compromised credentials, and supply chain attacks to infiltrate networks undetected.
This escalating threat requires a proactive and multi-layered defence strategy. Organisations should implement the following key measures to protect their systems and data from ransomware attacks:
Perform regular patching of systems and software
Implement network segmentation
Use strong, phishing-resistant passwords and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Maintain backups regularly
Enforce least privilege access controls
Harden system configurations
Conduct regular security awareness training, vulnerability assessments, and incident response planning
