- Microsoft Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 End of Support
Microsoft Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 End of Support
9 January 2020
Background
From 14 January 2020, Microsoft will no longer provide technical support, software and security updates for systems running on Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2. Administrators and users are reminded to migrate their computing needs onto a currently supported version of the Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.
Affected Products
Microsoft Windows 7
Microsoft Windows Server 2008
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2
Impact
Systems that are running on Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2 will continue to function even after the support ends. However, using unsupported software means that users do not receive security patches and feature updates. The risks of their systems being exploited by system vulnerabilities and compromised by cybersecurity threats such as malware infections will be higher.
