The 9th Singapore Cyber Conquest (SCC) saw the inaugural participation of teams from seven ASEAN countries alongside teams from Institutes of Higher Learning in Singapore. A total of 36 teams pitted their cybersecurity skills and knowledge in a simulated real-world cyber range. Each team, comprising two students, raced against time to complete a diverse range of cybersecurity challenges.
Teams had to accumulate as many points as possible by completing tasks and obtaining answers known as “flags”. To capture these flags, they required knowledge on different cybersecurity domains such as web security, reverse engineering and cryptography.
After close to eight hours of competition, the winners were announced:
1st place: Team NUS Greyhats consisting of Jeremy Heng Wen Ming and David Kum from National University of Singapore, each received a pass to the Blackhat USA 2019 conference held in Las Vegas, inclusive of airfare and accommodation.
2nd place: Team Vietnam-UIT.MeePwn consisting of Hong Phi Pham and Tien Dat Bui Minh from University of Information Technology - Vietnam National University, each received a $500 Harvey Norman voucher.
3rd place: Team wizard of skn consisting of Rachata Kampitak and Pattara Teerapong from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, each received a $300 Harvey Norman voucher.
The 9th SCC was organised by CSA and sponsored by BAE Systems.
