Beware of Scammers Impersonating as CSA Officers

1. We have received reports of scam calls impersonating us. The scammers will say that they are officers from the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore, CSA, the “Cyber Police of Singapore”, “Cyber Crime Department of Singapore” or equivalent. The scammers may also:

• Claim that they are investigating suspicious activities in your computer or network;

• Claim that they are investigating a cybercrime case where your identity may have been misused for fake bank accounts or money laundering activities;

• Send emails from spoofed email accounts “investigation@csa.gov.sg” with fictitious names and badge IDs;

• Request that you install remote desktop access software applications on your computer;

• Use the CSA logo when carrying out the remote installation;

• Request for a transfer of payment to resolve the issue;

• Ask you to access your personal accounts;

• Tell you that you should not mention anything about the case to anyone else. 

2. Members of the public should stay vigilant and not follow through with the instructions given by the scammers from such calls or emails.

• Do not install any software or applications on your computer.

• Do not disclose any personal or financial details over the phone.

• Do not make any transfers or payment. Government agencies will not ask for your details or request payment for services rendered over the phone. CSA officers will not contact you over the phone or email to ask you to download software applications or gain remote access to your terminal.

3. If you are unsure of any calls claiming to be from CSA, you may report the incident to SingCERT at https://go.gov.sg/singcert-incident-reporting-form. If you wish to provide any information related to such scams, or if you have followed through to make payment, please call the Police hotline at 1800-2550-000 or submit it online at www.police.gov.sg/iwitness.
