Singapore’s Cybersecurity Chief Receives Prestigious International Leadership Award

Mr David Koh, Chief Executive of the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA), was today conferred the first Billington CyberSecurity International Leadership Award. The award was presented by Mr Thomas Billington, Chief Executive Officer of Billington CyberSecurity (Billington), at the 3rd Annual Billington International Cybersecurity Summit held in Washington, DC, USA.
This award was conferred to Mr Koh in recognition of his leadership in cybersecurity and his contributions in strengthening cybersecurity in Singapore. These include his leadership of CSA, the successful launch of Singapore’s Cybersecurity Strategy and the passage of the Singapore’s cybersecurity legislation. In addition, Mr Koh made significant contributions towards shaping international and regional cooperation on cyber norms of behaviour and cyber capacity building. Mr Koh was recently appointed Commissioner of Cybersecurity for Singapore and holds concurrent appointments as Deputy Secretary (Special Projects) and Defence Cyber Chief at the Ministry of Defence, Singapore.
This is the first time Billington is presenting an International Leadership Award in cybersecurity at its international summit. Billington also organises the Billington Annual Cybersecurity Summit which is currently into its 8th year. For the last six years, awards have been conferred to cybersecurity leaders such as retired General Keith Alexander, Former Director of National Security Agency (NSA), and retired General Michael Hayden, Former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
The summit saw world-class cybersecurity thought leaders engage in high-level discussions and sharing of best practices to combat increasing cyber threats. Mr Koh opened the summit with a keynote on “Securing Cyberspace – Perspective from Singapore”, where he delved into reasons why cybersecurity matters to Singapore and our nation’s approach to cybersecurity.
Mr Koh said, “It is truly an honour to receive this award. It has been an incredible journey made possible by the strong support of my CSA colleagues and our local and international partners. It shows that Singapore’s cybersecurity efforts have not gone unnoticed. I look forward to growing and strengthening the cyberspace together with my team and all our partners.”
