Singapore International Cyber Week 2019 Overview and Key Highlights

The Singapore International Cyber Week (SICW) – the region’s most established cybersecurity event, will take place from 1 to 3 October 2019 at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre. Organised by the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA), SICW 2019 will see policy makers, business leaders, industry experts and academia around the world converge in Singapore where they will engage in dialogue on cybersecurity trends and challenges, showcase cutting-edge innovations, and collaborate on capacity building efforts.
Themed “Partnerships for Trust and Confidence”, SICW 2019 aims to drive international and regional cooperation for a trusted and secure cyberspace. The key events happening at SICW 2019 include the ASEAN Ministerial Conference on Cybersecurity (AMCC), GovernmentWare (GovWare) Conference and Exhibition, International Common Criteria Conference (ICCC), International IoT Security Roundtable, and Women in Cyber. GovWare 2019 is supported by 300 sponsors, exhibitors and partners and will feature 100 speakers over its 3-day conference.
Guest-of-Honour, Singapore’s Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Mr Teo Chee Hean, will launch SICW 2019, while Mr S Iswaran, Minister for Communications and Information and Minister-in-Charge of Cybersecurity will be the hosting Minister.
Notable keynote speakers at SICW 2019 include H.E. Mr. Fabrizio Hochschild, Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser to the Secretary-General on the Preparations for the Commemoration of the Seventy-Fifth Anniversary of the United Nations. He will be joined by other international and regional thought leaders, including Mr George Kurtz, CEO & Co-founder, Crowdstrike, Mr Lee Fook Sun, Chairman, Ensign InfoSecurity and Mr Kevin Mandia, CEO, FireEye.
Showcasing the latest trends, innovations and solutions in cybersecurity, the 28th edition of GovWare will see a wide-ranging representation of industry key players including leading global and local names such as Palo Alto, FireEye, IBM, Huawei, Cisco, Singapore Technologies, Singtel, PCS Security and Ensign InfoSecurity. The exhibition floor will feature cutting-edge technologies and the latest applications such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Deep Data and Machine Learning. The UK Pavilion will be returning for its fourth year, and for the first time, the Israeli Economic and Trade Mission will present twelve companies under the Israel Pavilion.

1. SICW 2019 Opening Plenary

The Opening Plenary brings together policy makers, influential business leaders and industry experts engaged in capacity building in the region. Public and private sector agencies and organisations gather at this event to discuss key cybersecurity issues, strategies and solutions.
2. ASEAN Ministerial Conference on Cybersecurity (AMCC)
Opening address by Mr S Iswaran, Minister for Communications and Information and Minister-in-Charge of Cybersecurity

The AMCC complements the various cybersecurity collaborations amongst the ASEAN countries and provides a platform for discussion on ways to strengthen cybersecurity in the region. The event brings together ASEAN Ministers and senior officials from all 10 ASEAN member states to work towards greater cyber capacity and building across borders for our collective security.
3. GovWare Conference & Exhibition 2019
1 – 3 October 2019, Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre
Into its 28th showing, GovernmentWare (GovWare) is the region’s most established premier conference and exhibition for cybersecurity and serves as the cornerstone event for SICW. Highlights at GovWare this year include participation by Country Pavilions from the UK, Singapore and for the first time, Israel, which will demonstrate a broad range of cybersecurity applications and technologies. Besides showcasing the latest developments and technologies from established companies around the globe, other interesting displays include the Startup Pavilion, which focuses on promising local companies and the IHL Pavilion where Institutes of Higher Learning will demonstrate a wide range of innovative applications and cybersecurity projects.

Key highlights at GovWare 2019 include:
• CXO Plenary – By invitation only
The CXO Plenary, jointly organised by CSA and Temasek Foundation, will bring together up to 180 C-suite executives and top decision-makers from public and private sectors to exchange views on key strategic developments and trends in cybersecurity. Themed Cyber Resilience: The New Boardroom Priority, this year’s CXO Plenary will discuss ways that organisations can adopt to improve their cyber defences and build up resilience to mitigate cybersecurity threats. Senior Minister of State for Ministry of Communications and Information and Ministry of Culture, Community & Youth, Ms Sim Ann, will deliver the opening remarks.
• Singapore Cyber Conquest
The Singapore Cyber Conquest is open to students of Institutes of Higher Learning in Singapore and ASEAN to test their cybersecurity capabilities in a near real-world cyber range. Participants will race against time to complete a diverse range of cybersecurity challenges that will put their cybersecurity skills and knowledge to the ultimate test.
• Cybersecurity Challenge Singapore – Face-to-Face (F2F) Competition
Top players from the Singapore Floor in the UK-Developed CyPhinx, a Massive Multiplayer Online Game have been invited to compete in this exciting F2F competition. Players will embark on a series of real-life cyber incident response scenarios, where they will demonstrate their cybersecurity proficiencies to deal with the incidents.
4. International Common Criteria Conference 2019
Opening speech by Dr Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State for Communications and Information and SMS-in-Charge of Cybersecurity

For the first time, SICW 2019 will be hosting the flagship international forum for the Common Criteria industry – International Common Criteria Conference (ICCC). The ICCC is an annual event for the international IT security product evaluation and certification industry. Themed “Common Criteria in the Era of Global Digital Transformation”, the conference will bring together global thought-leaders, certification bodies, evaluation labs, product developers and policy makers to focus on the specification, development, evaluation, certification and approval of Common Criteria in IT security products. Previous host countries include Netherlands, United Kingdom, India and the United States of America.
5. Women in Cyber
3 October 2019, Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre
Co-organised by CSA and the High Commission of Canada, Women in Cyber aims to promote best practices and career opportunities to attract more females to the industry and expand the talent pool. Guest-of-Honour, Senior Minister of State for Ministry of Communications and Information and Ministry of Culture, Community & Youth, Ms Sim Ann, will deliver a welcome address. There will be a panel discussion with female cybersecurity experts from Canada, Australia, Japan and Singapore. Networking opportunities with the cybersecurity community including partner agencies and local cybersecurity communities such as industry associations and interest groups are available after the panel session.
